valentino: then & now

it is my mission to watch valentino: the last emperor over winter break. i know, i know, it's blasphemy that i have yet to see the documentary. especially after the whirlwind press and parties it granted. all the fuss is for good reason, valentino has defined strong femininity for decades, as well as what it means to be a fashion icon:

vintage valentino, before the emperor himself

the runways of Paris in 2009 were shown soft shades of neutrals, lavender, grey, and gold in floaty, sheer dresses fit for any occasion. made of fluttering tulle, organza, chiffon, and touches of antique lace. aren't they heavenly?
