figure drawing

Lonny Magazine has me wanting to take up figure drawing again, and to frame one for my bedroom.  I made a figure drawing almost identical to the one in Ryan Korban's apartment while I was taking studio art classes in Florence.  I also have a sudden urge to roll around in luxurious fur, but I'll try to restrain myself.

darling duvets

I love these uber-feminine waterfall ruffle duvets. My favorite is the white one, it would be like sleeping in a cloud! Perfect for nestling and lounging on those lazy days.

zara for kids

You must know how much I adore all things miniature.  Well this has taken my liking to a whole other level.  Zara for Kids  has outdone themselves.  These promo pictures are so cute it makes me want to stock up on things for my non-existent children! There's nothing I love more than tots with style.  You better believe my future kids will be dressing exactly like this!

Also Zara will be opening their online store September 2nd. Yippee! Now we just need to get H&M on the virtual train.

norman parkinson

Norman Parkinson is a fantastic British photographer who has shot for the likes of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in his day.  He worked mainly in portraits and fashion but his photographs were mainly taken on the busy streets of London.  I looooove this particular shot, it's so lovely!

Rue Magazine is launching their debut in September!  I can't wait to see their first issue.  These are a sneak peek from photographer Manny Rodriguez. I love that bedroom set up, those pillows are fabulous!

j.crew september 2010

Stop, just stop it! J.Crew you make me weak in the knees every time, and each time I'm still surprised at how absolutely perfect you are.  Their catalog of September is full of creamy neutrals- camels, ivorys, deep greys, and piles of impeccably messy curls.  I love her hair and can't wait to slip myself into a pair of corduroys. Hurry up fall, I'm waiting here!  Can I get that poncho and a pair of leather gloves on pre-order?

grace kelly, is that you?

Nope, it's Claudia Schiffer for the spring/summer 2010 Ferragamo campaign with the ever-brilliant Mario Testino behind the lens.  I love that fashion houses are moving towards timeless elegance to sell their lines, I can't get enough of the soft lighting and the old-school glamour.  Sighing starts now.

coco + james

Coco Rocha + Wedding = Bliss. Simple as that.

the poet's loft

I want to be in this California getaway this instant.  This space, not to mention the view, is stunning and is called The Poet's Loft.  I can just imagine the greats of poetry sitting in a place exactly like this one, with a cup of tea and a pen in hand.  Even I feel inspired looking at this!  You can rent this gorgeous little gem, that comes out it's own private dock (hello dangling toesies in the water at sunset), here.

blue suede shoes

On the streets of New York, style knows no bounds.  Give me that Vespa... right now so I can scoot across country!

a new kind of farm

I'm not exactly what you could call a country girl.  Farming isn't my cup of tea but I could be convinced to reconsider with one of these re-vamped modern farmhouses.  They're gorgeous! Maybe not worth milking cows kind of gorgeous, but that lighting has me thinking twice. These homes are designed by Vermont based BirdsEye Design.

scratch map

I want this scratch map immediately! I'm always thinking and planning of where I want to go next (I always have a severe case of wanderlust...it's becoming a problem), and this map would make it so much easier to visualize!  I've wanted a record of the places I've been and loved for a long time but the maps I've wanted have been a tad bit out of my price range.  This one is pocket friendly! I love that the store is called "I want one of those".  Very appropriate!

holly golightly

One of my roommates recently asked me why I was "obsessed" with Audrey Hepburn after I put this print up in our kitchen.  I denied I was, but truth be told I really am. I can't help but adore her!  Especially after re-watching her classics like Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman Holiday.  She's just so charming and effortlessly elegant! These are old publicity shots of Breakfast at Tiffany's take by Howell Conant.  Who else could be so chic in an empty apartment waiting to be unpacked? Only Holly Golightly would be sitting there dressed to the nines and sipping on a glass of champagne, she clearly stands for "less is more".  I'm dying to get my hands on Enchantment, the Audrey Hepburn biography by Donald Spoto.  Did you know that she was so frail she would have fainting fits? I'm fascinated already!

the romantics

So I read the script for The Romantics back in my interning days and fully enjoyed it.  A little predictable, very coming-of-age, with the idealism of youth juxtaposed with the dreary monotony that is life after college.  Very relevant to now I would say!  The film delves into a core group of friends who call themselves "The Romantics" equally for their past dating history and their once rosy outlook on their futures.  They reunite years later for a wedding and find it hard to face the failure of their bright dreams.  Even though it follows a formula, the cast looks enigmatic and engaging.  Welcome back, Seth Cohen!

It looks like J.Crew is getting excited about the movie as well, they just did this fun photoshoot and behind-the-scenes film with the cast.

bridal bliss

How darling is this shot of this blushing bride? I love the oversized flowers, she looks adorable.

watermelon punch

How mouth-watering does this watermelon punch look? Spiked with rum, it's the perfect summer cocktail to sip on while enjoying the sun going down. How refreshing! Especially now that summer has finally decided to join the rest of us with hot hot heat.

james radin-designer profile

Nancy Meyers knows how to make a great movie.  She plans out the set, and when she needs something to put together a home to drips with pure perfection, she calls on her LA-based designer James Radin.  He styled the homes for It's Complicated, The Holiday, and Something's Gotta Give. You know, those movies when you were watching in jealousy over the picturesque homes? I absolutely loved Meryl Streep's Santa Barbara country kitchen.  The stuff dreams, or I guess films, are made of!

The kitchen from It's Complicated.
The LA home in The Holiday.
The Hamptons home in Something's Gotta Give.

breakfast in bed

Wishing I could do this all morning long, instead of hustling myself to work. I love breakfast trays and newspapers.

j.crew fall preview

I know I should be savoring the last drops of summer, now that we're nearing the end of August and the ushering in of September, but I can't help but keep looking at what JCrew is showing in their lookbook. Too wonderful yet again!  The styling for these shoots are impeccable and make me excited for fall.  I already spot items that I'm putting on my continuous wish list.  About 85% of the list is from J.Crew. Go figure.

reception a luxe

This reception table set up just oozes glamour and grandeur. Smitten with Studio Nine Photography, absolutely one hundred percent smitten!

mixtape mondays

I found this new blog, Destined to Design, that makes a "mixtape" every week.  I'm always searching to new tunes and I'm loving these posts.  It looks like we have the same taste in music too! Islands, Iron&Wine, Cat Power, Passion Pit, and so many more bands I've never heard before.  Enjoy!
