come fly with me

heremes, always one step ahead of the crowd. these delightful advertisements are from heremes' 2006 ad campaign, with their signature orange represented by a flyaway balloon. it's kitchy, catchy, and cute.

with the recent success of the movie Up! (well granted of course, i still get teary eyed thinking about it) balloons are all the rage now in engagement pictures. who knew they would become synonymous with romance? but i like it!

just keep swimming

this dress screams "take me to a cocktail party immediately!" it's time to bring in the christmas season, and that means holiday parties! i love dressing up and this is the time of year when sparkles galore are completely appropriate. this dress by karl lagerfeld (naturally) for fendi reminds me of mermaids.

i'd rather be with you

Joshua Radin | MySpace Music Videos

this beautiful song is by joshua radin and it makes me feel so lighthearted and happy! i just want to drive down the coast on the perfect day listening to this. i love the homemade style of this music video, directed by zach braff. i'm tapping my toes as i type this!

happy thought of the day

don't underestimate the power of a handwritten note. getting a letter in the mail catches people off guard and puts a smile of their face, at least i know that's the effect it has on me. snail mail is so much more personal than shooting someone an e-mail, it shows you have been thinking of them enough to go out of your way. greeting cards are one of my obsessions, there are so many cute and funny cards and i can spend hours picking them out.

shopper's delight

i think these framed shopping bags are such an adorable idea, and a surprisingly crisp and clean way of decorating a blank wall

adding this to my never ending quest of having the perfect closet (read: BIGGER)
i love the compartments, differing levels, and especially the chandelier and plush plum chair!

the lyon, the rich, and the wardrobe

jenna lyons: the woman, the myth, the legend. the genius creative director of j.crew has made quite a splash the past year and has become the bonafide it-girl of the fashion industry. her intelligence, her impeccable taste, and her innovative ideas have quickly made her the girl crush of blogs, shoppers, and editors everywhere. she even received a 1 million dollar bonus from j.crew for all the work she's done to turn them around, and sure enough j.crew's catalogs, merchandise, and advertisements have been getting better and better. i've drooled over their jewelery and spreads, lyons does a wonderful job capturing the essence of modern elegance.

twinkle twinkle little star

i love the fairy lights behind the canopy, it looks like a winter wonderland of a bedroom. it reminds me of christmas and comfort.

ladylike & lovely

i love this editorial spread of ashley olsen, she commands cultured refinery harkening back to old school glamour and courtly lifestyles of the well-bred. for being barely 5'2'' and frail, she looks so strong in herself. soft and feminine but uncompromising on what she wants. i can't get enough of the lace and antique furniture!

newpaper nochalance

amidst being up to my elbows in impending papers and finals, all i want to do is have nothing to do but sit down and read a newspaper. i can't even remember the last time i read the paper, not online. they say print is a dying medium but i refuse to believe it. i love the disheveled laissez faire attitude of this photograph, she doesn't want to be bothered and is confident in her femininity with her masculine details: blazer, watch, and shoes.

winnie the pooh

i love the vintage drawings of winne the pooh storybooks. they remind me of my childhood, when things were simpler, before television and technology began to change at neck-breaking speeds, and maybe more meaningful. there's something to say for the time, care, and consideration that goes into hand made things. i think it would be sweet to start collecting old-school drawn storybooks before they all disappear. it's a little like saving child-like innocence.

heartbeats

jose gonzalez is one of my favorite artists and this is one of my favorite songs of his. his voice is so lovely and an acoustic guitar gets me without fail. i adore this commercial, the images go perfectly with the song and it's a beautifully made short film.

norah jones

norah jones has done it again! she's one of my favorite artists and has finally released a new album called "fall again" this year. her voice is pure honey as always. if i'm ever feeling anxious i can always depend on her to soothe me with her jazzy & heartfelt music. welcome back norah, you're as lovely as ever.

swoon-worthy everything

oh the lives of the rich & the famous...fairytales do come true!

Celebrity Wedding: Roselyn Sánchez & Eric Winter

Three months after running into Sánchez at an L.A. party in 2005, Winter says, "It finally crossed my mind to ask her out." Their sushi dinner went well, so the next date was an entire weekend away in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

Winter popped the question on a midnight kayak ride through a bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico in December 2007. "I was petrified she would drop the ring," he says. "It never left the box. She accepted; I shut the box and told her she could see it again on land."

he had every right to be worried, because it is the most perfect engagement ring in the entire world! honestly, i wouldn't change a single thing about it. breathtakingly beautiful.

Michael Barin of Studio City, Calif., designed the 4.3-carat sparkler, a radiant square-cut center stone set in platinum.

alicia keys- empire state of mind part II

i've been listening to jay-z & alicia keys' "empire state of mind" on repeat for weeks on end, to the point where my roommate despises the song now (how someone could dislike this song is beyond me). well i just found alicia keys' new version, or part two, with rewritten lyrics, her piano, and her amazing voice all on its' own. completely live too, enjoy!

give me free time please

i like to think of all the things i would rather be doing, instead of doing the things i need to be doing...i also like to pretend i don't have any responsibilities so maybe they will go away instead of bothering me. very productive, i know.

autumn air

i love the lighting of fall, the sunshine seems softer somehow, more liquid, golden, and almost like candlelight when the sun starts to set. it's so flattering and makes people, flowers, and things a bit more beautiful.
