garance meets the new york (times)
I just read this article in the New York Times about my favorite fashion blogger (sorry Scott, but I'm sure you feel the same) the irresistable Garance Dore. Below are my favorite excerpts from the interview...in case you're not as enamored with The Sartorialist and Garance as I am, the background is that they are the two biggest names in street fashion photography - both with impeccable taste and keen eyes - that fell in love and recently moved in together. What a perfect couple.
“I wanted to be with Scott,” said Ms. Doré on a recent afternoon, at a Pain Quotidien near her home. Despite a grisly sleet storm, she looked elegant, armored against the weather in a Band of Outsiders double-breasted wool jacket, her neck bundled with a heavy gray Sarti scarf. For Fashion Week, the couple plans to hit as many shows as possible. After the hubbub, they hope to work on their new loft, in a prewar building. The walls are still bare; one of the first pieces they plan to hang is a black-and-white photograph by August Sander from Cologne, Germany, in 1926. The photo, a gift from Ms. Doré, depicts a dapper gentleman in a bowler and topcoat. Mr. Schuman cited it as an inspiration for the Sartorialist.
“But,” she added with a smile, “the idea of following the person I love, it’s easy to say that when the person you loves lives in New York
Nevertheless, she said, the apartment (and New York itself) is now shared turf.
“I don’t make sacrifices,” she said of her move. “There is no, ‘I leave everything for my man.’ I just do things when they make me feel good and they feel right."

Keira Knightly does Vogue Italia
I'm not even a adamant Keira Knightly fan, but this spread in Vogue Italia is undeniably gorgeous. The English countryside looks like a dream and this screams modern day Jane Austen novel. The above library shot is my favorite - I would die for one of those climbing ladders and built in shelves. I'm also currently wearing a full length tulle skirt so I think my opinion may be swayed.

scott schuman, marry me
I follow Scott Schuman's blog, The Sartorialist, religiously for his phenomenal photography of street fashion and daily inspiration. He has a knack for capturing people in their element, most often on the streets of New York and Paris. This new short documentary goes behind the scenes on how he works and I love. Love, love, love, actually in love. I find him to be so well spoken and debonair!

fashion inspiration
I'm loving this slideshow in New York Magazine showcasing different fashion designers and their inspirations for their Spring 2011 collections. My favorites were how exotic architecture was translated to the runway. They make me have major wanderlust to gain some inspiration of my own!
Christiano Siriano "IndoChina"
Lela Rose "Efflorescent"

lover the label
Lusting over the Australian label Lover for their "untitled" 2010-2011 collection. I feel like every piece would somehow fit together, I particularly like that velvet number and of course the menswear inspired blouse and trousers. I can't wait to start donning tights and booties!

ready, set, pose!
Kate Spade, that doll of a designer, has the most adorable ad campaigns. As always, creative with a touch of vintage, I love this soapbox derby from Spring '08. The charming tots don't hurt their cause either!

all-american girl
Michael Kors' American sportswear done right. All white, turtleneck, topped off with a camel belt. Looks like perfection to me! You know how I can't resist a completely white ensemble.

i fell in love at the seaside
I handled my charm with time and slight of time
Do you want to go to the seaside? I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go
I fell in love at the seaside
She handled her charm with time and slight of hand.
The October J.Crew catalog immediately brought that song to mind. I'm adoring the hazy, misty look of the spread, it has me wanting to purchase a pair of those polka-dot tights immediately. I think I just might!

cozy cable-knit
I've had enough of this see-saw weather, it is officially November and I demand fall weather! No more heat, give me crisp & cool! Just so I can wear these cable-knit looks. I do love snuggly.
Especially shrunken sweaters from the little boy's section at Crewcuts or GapKids.
Or in the other direction to oversize for men and women.
Love this belted cardigan, it reminds me of Christmas. In a chic way.

let's make a toast
This photoshoot and behind-the-scenes clip from the Toast Autumn/Winter 2010 campaign just took my breath away. Set in Venice and Tyrol, director Nick Seaton made a beautiful short film that has me squirming to hop on a plane to Europe with careless abandon.

zara for kids
You must know how much I adore all things miniature. Well this has taken my liking to a whole other level. Zara for Kids has outdone themselves. These promo pictures are so cute it makes me want to stock up on things for my non-existent children! There's nothing I love more than tots with style. You better believe my future kids will be dressing exactly like this!
Also Zara will be opening their online store September 2nd. Yippee! Now we just need to get H&M on the virtual train.

j.crew september 2010
Stop, just stop it! J.Crew you make me weak in the knees every time, and each time I'm still surprised at how absolutely perfect you are. Their catalog of September is full of creamy neutrals- camels, ivorys, deep greys, and piles of impeccably messy curls. I love her hair and can't wait to slip myself into a pair of corduroys. Hurry up fall, I'm waiting here! Can I get that poncho and a pair of leather gloves on pre-order?
grace kelly, is that you?
Nope, it's Claudia Schiffer for the spring/summer 2010 Ferragamo campaign with the ever-brilliant Mario Testino behind the lens. I love that fashion houses are moving towards timeless elegance to sell their lines, I can't get enough of the soft lighting and the old-school glamour. Sighing starts now.

the romantics
So I read the script for The Romantics back in my interning days and fully enjoyed it. A little predictable, very coming-of-age, with the idealism of youth juxtaposed with the dreary monotony that is life after college. Very relevant to now I would say! The film delves into a core group of friends who call themselves "The Romantics" equally for their past dating history and their once rosy outlook on their futures. They reunite years later for a wedding and find it hard to face the failure of their bright dreams. Even though it follows a formula, the cast looks enigmatic and engaging. Welcome back, Seth Cohen!
It looks like J.Crew is getting excited about the movie as well, they just did this fun photoshoot and behind-the-scenes film with the cast.
